Guinea-Bissau is located in western Africa, bordering Senegal to the north, Guinea to the east and south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. It covers an area of about 36,100 square kilometers and has a population of about 1.86 million.

Guinea-Bissau's economy is mainly based on agriculture, fisheries, and mining. The main export products are frozen shrimp, frozen fish, etc. Among them, cashew exports account for more than 80% of the total exports. The cashew production ranks fourth in the world, and the quality of cashews produced ranks first in the world. In 2014, Guinea-Bissau adopted the "Terra Ranka" ("Restart") Strategic Action Plan, defining four industries, including agriculture, industry, fisheries, tourism and mining, as economic growth drivers to promote sustainable development.

China and Guinea-Bissau have established diplomatic relations since 1973, the year after Guinea-Bissau declared independence. Since the beginning of the Guinea-Bissau Liberation War, the relationship between the two countries has played an important role. After Guinea-Bissau's independence, China helped Guinea-Bissau build hospitals, schools, the National Assembly Building, the government headquarters building and other infrastructure, rebuilt the presidential palace and participated in many important projects. In 2018, the bilateral trade volume between the two countries was US$37.46 million, mainly exports from China, which mainly exported electromechanical products, high-tech products, textiles, etc.
